Biography

Geum Sahong is a contemporary painter who has held 38 solo exhibitions. Working with acrylic and tempera on untreated fabric, his signature blue tones explore pantheism and the unity of nature.

금사홍은 38회의 개인전을 가진 현대 화가로, 비처리된 천 위에 아크릴과 템페라로 작업하며, 범신론과 자연의 합일을 탐구하는 청색 톤이 특징이다.

Biography

Geum Sahong (b. 1962, Seoul) graduated from the College of Fine Arts at Hongik University, majoring in Western Painting (1987). He pursued further graduate studies but voluntarily withdrew, considering a doctoral degree to hold little significance in the realm of art.

He has held 38 solo exhibitions and participated in over 200 exhibitions across South Korea, Japan, China, Mexico, and the United States. He sketches in plein air using an iPad, then transposes images onto untreated fabric with acrylic and tempera paint.

His central theme is pantheism — a holistic perspective reflecting the unity of nature. His signature blue tones were inspired by an experience in his thirties watching the horizon blend sea and sky in a light blue hue during early morning hours at the seashore.

작가 소개

금사홍(1962년, 서울 출생)은 홍익대학교 미술대학 서양화과를 졸업했다(1987). 석·박사 과정을 이수했으나 예술 분야에서 박사 학위의 의미가 크지 않다고 판단하여 자진 철회했다.

38회의 개인전을 개최하고 한국, 일본, 중국, 멕시코, 미국 등에서 200여 회의 전시에 참여했다. 아이패드를 사용하여 야외에서 스케치한 후, 비처리된 천 위에 아크릴과 템페라로 이미지를 옮긴다.

그의 중심 주제는 범신론 — 자연의 합일을 반영하는 전일적 관점이다. 특유의 청색 톤은 30대 시절 이른 아침 해변에서 바다와 하늘이 연한 파란빛으로 합쳐지는 수평선을 바라보던 경험에서 영감을 받았다.
